(Sergey Maximishin, 24 August 2021) Pirat[e] copy of the portrait of the poet Nikolai Nekrasov by Wesenberg & Co, 1890s The original portrait was taken by Charles Bergamasco in 1870s. Taking advantage of the imperfection of the Russian legislation, the Wesenberg & Co atelier had been parasitizing of famous photographers for almost three decades. On the back there is an interesting advertisement in my imperfect translation.
"What could be better and more pleasant than collecting of the best artistic photographic cards of famous people! The photographs are affordable for everyone, until now it has not happened yet. Please pay attention to the price and make sure of the elegance of photos and a large selection of poses. In the photos are: persons of the IMPERIAL family and foreign Sovereigns, Russian and foreign figures, Military heroes, Writers, Composers, Artists, Actors of the IMPERIAL theaters and others.
