| Dates: | 1835 - 1906 | Scottish financier head of an Anglo-American banking house, the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company, and director of the Bank of England, Scottish peer (1892-1908) and amateur photographer. Elected to the Amateur Photographic Association in 1866 he took tableaux vivants similar to those of Henry Peach Robinson and Julia Margaret Cameron. His most active period was the 1860s and 70s though he did resume photography later in life.Preparing biographies
