| Atelier Carl Alexander Czichna (1807-1867) Margarethenplatz, Innsbruck 1877 Salt print, hand-coloured 12.5 x 18 cm Bassenge Photography Auctions 19th – 21st Century Photography, 8 December 2021, Lot: 4047 LL/115499 The construction of the fountain at the former Margarethenplatz was started in 1873. In 1874 the substructure was completed, and in 1875, the marble bowls were completed. On September 29, 1877, the fountain was ceremoniously unveiled in the presence of Crown Prince Rudolf. Carl Alexander Czichna founded a lithographic institute in Innsbruck in 1841, which he expanded around 1861 to include a photographic studio. He was a well-known Tyrolean landscape photographer, thematically concentrating on Innsbruck and its surroundings. He published an album on the Brenner Railway during its construction years 1864-1867.
