| Underwood & Underwood German Field cannon for defense against aeroplanes. n.d. Stereoview Private collection of Ralph Reiley LL/116324 (Ralph Reiley, 10 December 2021) A pre-1900 German obsolete gun taken out of storage an converted into an anti-aircraft gun. In WW1 Shrapnel was at type of shell. It was filled with some explosive and a lot of lead balls, like 19th century canister shot. It has timed fuse so it would burst over the heads of the enemy. Same thing for shooting at airplanes, sort of like a large shot gun.
