| August Sander & Franz Stukenberg (Linz) Portrait of two young men 1905 (ca) Gelatin silver print, matte Bassenge Photography Auctions 19th – 21st Century Photography, 8 December 2021, Lot: 4307 LL/115638 The photographs offered here are rare examples of the beginning of August Sander's artistic and professional career. After travelling as a photographic apprentice to Berlin, Magdeburg, Halle, Leipzig and Dresden, in 1901 Sander worked in the Greif photographic studio in Linz. Together with Franz Stukenberg he took over the Greif photographic studio in 1902, renaming it Sander & Stukenberg, which two of the mounts bear.
