In this 19th century cartoon a photographer, as an aside he is meant to be the famous photographer Sarony, is telling a man with no chin why it is not a good idea to take a profile photograph. I call you attention to the posing stand/head rest in the background ready for the photograph about to be made. Is the man dead? No, this kind of posting stand was used in every 19th century studio to help live people hold still.
