Baalbek is a town in the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon, situated to the east of the Litani River. It is famous for its exquisitely detailed, yet monumentally scaled temple ruins of the Roman period, of which this is a fine example. Here, a grand Corinthian column is the focus of Girault de Prangey's image.
