Increase Allan Lapham (1811-1875) was a scientist who collected carte-de-visite portraits of his contemporaries for his daughters Mary and Julia. The Lapham collection housed in the Wisconsin Historical Society is a remarkable record of prominent scientists of the nineteenth century.
