with widespread coverage, claimed 2,000 titles;
earliest issues on RMs which are rare; later on
CMs; early mts. of good quality, later CMs on
cheap card stock, but prints are usually of
quite good quality. Images are confusing, since
many were either pirated or made from bought
copy negs., however many views seem original.
Varied series titles, "Descriptive Views of the
American Continent", OH, PA, DC, WA, OR, NV, CA,
Mexico, AZ, SW & NW Indians. Used images by
many photogs; among those identified are J.S.
Mitchell, C. Seaver Jr., Enoch Conklin, Buehman,
Savage, Blessing (New Orleans), Rothrock,
Watkins, O'Sullivan, Brown, Ben Wittick (NM),
H.H. Brodeck (Sitka, AK area), Haynes and
Jackson. A high percentage of issues are of
