where he learned dags.; returned to VT in 57,
went into Union army as musician, was discharged
& worked as war photographer; ran gallery in
Bennington, VT until 71 when he went to Chicago;
in 79 moved to Indianola, IA, made plates & ran
gallery. 80 moved to Des Moines, ran gallery &
plate factory until 86 when he sold his gallery
