Book Description

Tucker Shaw came up with the brilliant but decidedly peculiar idea of photographing everything he ate--and taking notes on where and when--during the course of a year. Here it all is: an ever-changing document immortalizing one man's stomach in the year 2004. The food ranges from birthday cake to takeout Chinese (Shaw lives in New York), and from a meal at his favorite restaurant (Gonzo, in the West Village) to his ritualistic bowl of cereal every night before bed. (Not to mention leftover filet mignon in front of the Bush-Kerry debates on TV, a slab of Hummingbird Cake from the fabulous Magnolia Bakery on Bleecker Street, and many pints of Häagen Dazs.) Shaw includes a total of 2500 color photographs taken in restaurants, at the homes of his friends, on the street, in his own apartment--and one haunting photograph of a hot dog in Central Park.
