JONA FRANK's photography examines the cliques, social hierarchies, and stereotypes that pervade the American high-school experience. Frank spent three years traveling across the country photographing hundreds of students outside of their specific social groups, resulting in a series of 42 portraits entitled, High School. Portraits from this collection have been recently acquired by the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and have been exhibited nationally. Two portraits of cheerleaders from the series were part of Exhibition Game, a show curated for the Arts Commission Gallery in 2003 by Leah Modigliani.
