While the earliest work reproduced in this book dates from 1997, the vast majority of plates were made during the past two years. At the urging of gallerists and curators – bowled over by the early examples they had seen – van Dongen has recently begun to exhibit his color work to much critical acclaim. Effusus is printed in an oversized format, hardbound in Japanese cloth.
