Photography assimilated into popular culture (For subscribers) | in 1993 Heinz K. Henisch and Bridget A. Henisch published The Photographic Experience, 1839-1914: Images and Attitudes which is a must for anybody interested in the social world surrounding photography. The book is not a photohistory but rather a detailed, and well-illustrated, dive into how photography influenced the world rather than biographies of the key participants.
