A Biographical Dictionary of 19th Century Photographers in South and South-East Asia

 
Commercial, India
Took up photography in 1873; studio in Jubbulpur, 1882-99, Calcutta, 1887-c.1933, Lahore, 1893-8. John Blees probably left India in the 1890s, and his wife, who continued to run the business, in about 1914. Best-known as the author of Photography in Hindostan; or reminiscences of a travelling photographer (1877).
