In 1868 William Notman opened a studio at 120 King Street East, Toronto, Canada with John A. Fraser as his managing partner. The studio operated until 1880 when Fraser sold the business to pursue his career as a painter.

[William Notman, John A. Fraser] In 68 Notman opened studio in Toronto & send Fraser, an artist, to be managing partner. Fraser started with Notman in Montreal, 60, as first head of the art dept. Fraser brought J. Bruce from Montreal as chief operator. Fraser was also Art Superintendent with the Centennial Photog. Co. of U.S. Fraser bought Notman's share 83, renamed studio as Fraser & Sons; left it for sons to operate and pursued career as painter. Pub. views of Toronto, Niagara on RMs & CMs. Listed in Toronto 70-83.
