James M. Osborn & F.W. Durbec photographed the inside of Fort Sumter soon after its surrender on 13 April 1861 to Confederate forces at the start of the American Civil War. They trook a series of over 40 images.

[6] [James M. Osborn, Fearon E. Durbec; no other ref. to these men found] "Southern Stereoscopic & Photographic Depot"; issued rare civil war views on RMs; 17 April 61 visited Ft. Moultrie and confed. installations in the Charleston area, said to have taken over 40 stereos; wartime lack of chemicals & paper prevented mass sales of images.
