Issued outstanding series "Animal Studies from
Nature", negs. persisted for over 20 years, some
being CR 78 by J.W. Jarvis; some pub. by James
Cremer; many views pirated and pub. illegally by
"Best" series, etc. into the 80s. The top
photog. studio of animals of the time; dogs,
cats, poultry, race horses, other animals; many
early negs. prob. by R. Glover; in 75, pub. fine
series of Phila. zool. gardens to #40;
non-animal views much rarer, but int. subjects
such as German-Am. parade in Phila.; early views
on SCMs, later on RMs. Schreiber started with
Langenheims making talbotypes & glass views, set
up own studio in 57; prob. formed partnership
with Glover in Philadelphia, early 60s, ended in
66 when Glover went west & was killed; studio
became Schreiber & Sons, included 6 family
members & continued in business into 1920s. B.
