Stereographs project Business locations Philadelphia, PA, US [0] "Publisher"; 240 S. Camac St.; one of the
several companies which William H. Rau was
involved in, all views seen were CR by him
ranging from 03 to 09. Scenics scarce [8], on
heavy gray RMs of Yosemite & Dawson, AK. Also
issued 3 known scarce sets of risque genre prob.
with 10 to a set (few cards known from each
set). They are remarkably revealing for a major
publishing house since each shows two women with
fully bared breasts and one set shows pubic
hair. Sets seen are "Reassuring Trial In Her
Boudoir", "What Shall We Play Now?", and "A Hot
Time In The Old Town Tonight". Some were
apparently sent out as samples since a pasted-on
sticker on the back says "Dear Sir: If this
list and sample are not of commercial interest
to you, kindly refer same to a slot machine
operator, it should interest him as new views
are required regularly." T.K. Treadwell & William C. Darrah (Compiled by), Wolfgang, Sell (Updated by), 11/28/2003, Photographers of the United States of America, (National Stereoscopic Association) |
