[9-0] "Universe Views"; "Stereoscopic Conceits from the Ends of the Earth"; often issued on striking pink/pink RMs, view title & # usually scratched in the neg.; prints are of excellent quality and most look original, #s seen to 4500s. Issued uncommon scenics such as Chicago's Lincoln Park, N.Y.C.'s Central Park, Washington, DC bldgs., Yosemite, Johnstown Flood, etc. Also issued sets of images [13 known] which run from mildly risque to hard-core pornography; sets are of 3, 6, or 12 cards, most well-executed with multiple actors in fancy studio settings. Several are strightforward untitled strip-teases of a single model; others are groups such as "Bedtime" (4 women); "The Bath" (2); "Good Friends" is lesbian activity of 3 women; "The Painter & His Model", artist & woman going from nude poses to sexual activity. All known single views (non-set) are copies of nude paintings/sculptures, both M/F. Co. was apparently active for almost 10 years, first in Chicago, then in NYC; sets are known bearing each address. Chicago cards have no street address; NYC cards have address "12345 E. 67th St., New York, N. Y.", a non-existent location; some Chicago sets carry CR of 96, NYC sets of 04. While the scenics & some views involving nudity may have been actually CR, the XXX material was surely not. Overall, their output is among the best examples of the risque of that period. Not the same as the NYC co. which issued the "Universal Series" of scenics & genre.
