Private with 16th Lancers, retired from Army 1844; married in India and had four children, born variously at Meerut, Simla, Howrah and Naini Tal. Present at Lucknow during the Mutiny and the only civilian mentioned in Inglis’s despatches from the Lucknow Residency (plaque erected in his honour. Received Mutiny Medal. [1]
Variously described in New Calcutta Directories as hotel keeper, Agent with Central India Horse Dak Bungalow Company and Photographic Artist.[2]
