Artist statement:

I have spent most of my life using motion pictures to explore a wide variety of subjects and then tell a story about those subjects. The scenes I created lasted but a few seconds. For the last 30 years I have been drawn to photography so I can transform the brief duration of a scene and expand it into a lifetime appreciation of a moment. Like most artists I draw upon my life time experiences and delve into subjects that attract my interest. Through my images I hope to enlarge an aspect of the human condition that may not have been considered by the viewer. (March 2012)

In the natural world design is a function of necessity. In the man made world design has an added function to beautify and enhance. Plants, animals and the very earth we live on are designed by natural forces and the need to survive. Although the designs I seek to reveal have a distinct reason for their existence, I attempt to portray the beauty of these designs that appeal to my aesthetic sense. (2007)
