| Dates: | 1933, 5 September - | Born: | US, IL, Oak Park | Active: | US | American photojournalist who worked with the Magnum photo agency.Preparing biographies Biography provided by Focal Press A Magnum photographer since 1958, whose work exemplifies the personal style of "New Journalism," which contains authentic details about people and their circumstances yet presents a highly subjective view of the situation being covered. Davidson’s early photo-essays about a circus midget, a New York City gang, and Spanish Harlem are indicative of his sympathetic representations of those who are not part of mainstream culture. His portraits reflect a direct, open approach of extended involvement and social conscience that relies on gaining the trust of his subjects so they might reveal unguarded moments to his camera.
