Joined Photographic Society of Bengal, 26 Nov 1856; Member of Council, 21 Jan 1857; death announced at 4 Feb 1862 meeting of Bengal Photographic Society: ‘Dr. Simpson stated that he was sure the members would receive the intelligence of the demise of Mr Durrschmidt with much regret. He was too well known to them, for him to state, that the success of the Society, in its early existence, was mainly due to his zealous exertions.’[1]
