28th Madras Native Infantry 1847-79.
Son of William, schoolmaster, and Elizabeth Louisa; baptised, Hampton, Middlesex 27 May 1829; Cadet, 1847; retired 15 May 1879.
Married 16 Aug 1860 Mary Sophia (b. 24 Jul 1834; d. 24 Dec 1903). Children: Amy Mary Louisa (1861-68), Catherine Eleanor (b. 1873), Arthur Sheridan (1870-74), Beatrice Sophia (1872-75).[1]
An album of excellent views around Kamtee (European buildings and groups, topographical views and ethnographical studies), signed in the negative ‘C.S.B.W.’ and dated (between 1868 and 1876, the majority 1875) is held in the Alkazi Collection.
