Took the photographs which are reproduced in autotype in F.S. Growse, Indian Architecture of Bulandshahr (Vol II, Benares 1886): ‘It will be observed that the photographic illustrations in this part are not all of equal merit. I first had a complete set taken by a European professional at Cawnpur; but with such poor results that I was obliged to destroy all his larger plates, as unsuitable for printing, except two only...The other plates were all supplied by Chunni Lal of Mathura, whom I had employed for my previous publications. His work shows much more skilful manipulation, some of his views being really excellent.’
