A Biographical Dictionary of 19th Century Photographers in South and South-East Asia

 
Amateur, India
Royal (Madras) Engineers; 2nd lieutenant 12 Dec 1856, lieutenant 27.8.1858, captain 5.7.1872, major 31.3.1875, lieut-colonel 1.8.1883, retired 10 Nov 1890. Served China 1860.
 
A series of 14 views of antiquities of Southern India (Belur, Somnathpuram, Halebid, Mamallapuram, Sriringam) were shown at the Vienna Universal Exhibition of 1873.[1] Some of these views also appear to have been shown at the South Kensington Exhibition of the same year.
