He is particularly remembered for his 1968 photograph of the Vietnamese General [Nguyen Ngoc] Loan shooting a prisoner in a Saigon Street at the height of the Vietnam War. Troubled by the event which he always felt was misunderstood as it failed to take in the complexity of the day he visited the ex-general 30 years later in a pizza shop in Virginia and on the wall in a bathroom stall were the words "We know who you are, you fucker!".
There is an award winning documentary on his life "An Unlikely Weapon: The Eddie Adams Story" (2009).

With his hands tied behind his back, the victim’s contorted face at the instant of death transformed the event and became a symbol summarizing the bitter Vietnam legacy.
