John Falconer, British Library A Biographical Dictionary of 19th Century Photographers in South and South-East Asia | Amateur, India
Born in Turin, son of a well to do family; graduated from local School of Art as a sculptor. Learned the art of cake decoration and won a competition to work as pastrycook to the Viceroy, later setting up a chain of hotels and restaurants. Became an enthusiastic amateur photographer.
