Preparing biographies Based in London, Durnford was a parliamentary agent, one of the small group of lawyers who specialize in shepherding private bills through the legislature. In the 1854 exhibition of the Photographic Society in London, Durnford showed six waxed-paper views of Ilfracombe and one of Hampton Court Bridge, the choice of subjects implying that he was an amateur taking advantage of holiday trips.
