Advertisement in The Englishman of 26 July 1859 offers views of Mutiny scenes at Jhansi:
‘The following photographs for sale. Apply to G.M.J., care of Post Master, Jhansi:- Luchmer Tal - with fort of Jhansi in the distance.
Do. Do. - taken from a different position.
Orrcha Gate - Showing the places where the scaling ladders were placed.
Gosaen tombs - Near the Orrcha Gate.
Jhokun Bagh Gosaen Tombs, - across the road from where the Europeans were murdered.
Do. Do. - Showing the spot where the murders were committed.
Fort of Jhansi - Taken from a house in the city near the Sacan Gate.
Saen Gate - Through which the party were taken to be slaughtered.
Fort of Jhansi - From our batteries on the right attack.
Parkes Hill of Slaughter Hill - a large number of rebels who were endeavouring to escape were killed here.
