Haines] "Photographed by..."; "Published by..."; 478 Broadway; 45 North Pearl St.; issued scarce loc. scy., view of model of capitol, Palmer marbles and portrait of Palmer; rare set CR 68 of "Tropical House in A.F. Chatfield's Exotic Nursery"; most famous for 72 finely tinted views of Hurst's Taxidermy Museum, 70-73; also issued rare series of ~50 views of medical cases & specimens, each with long description on back and name of doctor who prepared the material, prob. made for doctors use, not for public sale; prob. made rare set of views CR 74 by taxidermist Frederick S. Webster of Troy, NY, of museum exhibits, format almost identical to that used for the Hurst/Haines set; also made tintypes, SI formats. Moved to Albany, 65; assoc. with sev. partnerships; moved to Boston, 83. Imprint rarely found as E.S.M. Haines.
