John Falconer, British Library A Biographical Dictionary of 19th Century Photographers in South and South-East Asia | Amateur, India
Son of J. Swiney, Bengal Army; ed. Cheltenham, Aug-Dec 1853; entered 17th Bengal Cavalry, 1860; Captain, 1870; killed in action, Peshawar Frontier, 1877.
His own photographs illustrate a diary of a hunting trip in Kashmir in the 1870s (in Royal Commonwealth Society Collection). Sent Indian and English views from England to the Bengal Photographic Society Exhibition, 1872.[1]
