Cambridge. B. 41, Portland, ME; by 55 was
working in S.L. Carlton's daguerrean studio
there. Moved to Boston 61 to partnership with
A.N. Hardy, then worked alone starting in 63.
Sometimes used photog. ID/date stamp on back of
views; 1 seen dtd 75 on orange/pink CM. Started going to FL in winters starting about 78, moved
there permanently 81 in partnership with DeWall
at 85 1/2 West Bay St. Worked alone at 77 1/2
West Bay St. 84-86. In ME & MA issued scarce
views of loc. scy.; also made SI formats. In FL
issued about 200 views on CMs of area scy. such
as fruit groves, Indians, forests, beach, etc.,
most while in partnership with DeWall so
authorship of images is questionable. In FL,
Ashmeade Bros. book store was major outlet.
