Worked in Topographical Survey of India. Contributed photographs to The People of India (8 vols, 1868-75). See his Photographs and notes descriptive of the tribes of Berar (1862), illustrated with original albumen prints. Many of these portraits appear in The People of India (vol. 7). His Statistical report on Gangra or Meilghat (nd., ca. 1861) also contains 23 tipped-in albumen prints, mainly stereo doubles, of ethnographical and architectural subjects.[1]
