‘Fourteen photographs by Major F. J. Davies, Executive Engineer, Upper Assam Division, are herewith sent’. [1]
‘Major F. T. Davis, Executive Engineer, Barrackpore Division, in reply to our inquiry, states that he has not at present any more photographs of antiquities in Assam, as the negatives have been effaced.’ [2]
Three photographs of temples at Sibsagor, Upper Assam, by Davies, and one view of the Tomb of Peerbaharam, Burdwan, by Dr. Mantell, enclosed in letter from P. Dickens, Officiciating Under Sectretary to the Government of Bengal, to A. P. Howell, Officiating Secretary to Government of India, dated 30 November 1868.[3]
