He accompanied the ill-fated expedition of Salomon August Andrées to get to the North Pole using a balloon. Tasked with making a photographic record he documented both the early stages of the preparations, flight and the tragic attempts to survive as the ill-equipped party attempted to gain safety. The remains of the expedition were discovered by the Bratvaag Expedition in 1930 along with five rolls of film and 93 of the photographs were saved.Preparing biographies
