President of the Photographic Society of India 1897-1899. ‘Mr Donaldson joined the Society in 1886, and was therefore one of its very earliest members.’ Editor of the journal from 1888. His wife Florence, ‘herself a clever photographer and brilliant writer.’ A portrait of Donaldson, reproduced in photogravure, is reproduced in The Journal of the Photographic Society of India (vol. XII, no. 6, p.102). A view on the Tista River by Donaldson is reproduced as a photoetching in the Journal of the Photographic Society of India, vol. 5, no. 6, June 1892, p. 112.
