Photographer Peter Merts' images revisit the artistic movement of romanticism from the 1900's where man vs. nature was a large source of inspiration. Unlike his counterparts from a century ago, the visual depth of Peter's landscapes respond on a more personal level. Peter was born and raised in the swamp country of southern Georgia, but the heat and bugs eventually chased him out. He graduated from Duke University, spent time in the English Lakes District and Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and has settled for the time being near San Francisco. He works primarily in medium format, and has recently purchased a 4x5. He is old enough to remember the day a person first walked on the moon.
