John Falconer, British Library A Biographical Dictionary of 19th Century Photographers in South and South-East Asia | Amateur, Sri Lanka
His photographs of waves and seascape studies, taken near the Mount Lavinia outside Colombo, were reported and commended in the The journal of the Photographic Society of India (vol XII, no. 3, March 1899, p.42):
‘We write these remarks...chiefly to recommend to the attention of our readers the wonderful carbon photographs of Mr R.A. Worsley-Bension which are to be seen just now at Messrs. Newman and Co.’s shop [Calcutta]. They have been pronounced by competent authorities to be the best of their kind. In them you may see clouds of spray and masses of curdled foam and storm-battered rocks, seagulls in flight, and the league-long roller thundering on the reef.’
