Crucifixion" (of a cyclorama, B/L of 11 views on
red/magenta CMs); "Chambersburg, destroyed by
the Rebels under McCausland, July 30, 1864",
(rare, 11 views on glass & yellow/yellow SCMs,
photog. was Charles E. Meyer); "The Great
Central Fair, Philadelphia, 1864", Art Gallery,
Horticulture Dept., etc. on SCMs; "Fairmount
Park Views", #'d 1 -138 & 1000 - 1018; many
views of PA, NJ, DC, DE, genre, loc. homes,
gardens, funeral wreaths, off-beat subjects such
as cork model of St. Peters; also made glass
views; merchandised views by Ropes, Anthony,
Stacy, European photogs., etc., with Newell name
overprinted. Originally frame-maker, opened
studio in 55, exhibited Am. Inst. of
Manufactures 56; became Newell & Son [Henry] in
72; rarely used blind-stamp; B. 22 Secaucus, NJ,
D. 97 Phila.; son continued business into 1900s.
