At the Bengal Photographic Society meeting of 19 January 1859 Capt. C.B. Young showed ‘a series of very good views, taken by Serjeant Sullivan of the Barracks at Dum Dum and Barrackpore, which proved how valuable photography may be made for engineering purposes.'[1]
