The first official photographer to the Royal Family of Portugal and a close friend and art advisor to King Fernando II. In 1848 he opened a studio at número 31, da Rua Direita das Necessidades, Lisbon. He took albumen print portraits of the Royal Family during the 1850s and 60s.
