| Active: | Chile / Argentina | A William G. Helsby, from Liverpool, England, bought the studio of Vance and Mason in Valpariso, Chile, in July or August 1850. As William Gaskell Helsby and his brother Thomas Columbus Helsby ran the studio “Montevideana”, in Montevideo, Uraguay (1846-1850) there appears to be some confusion over dates and locations. Moved to Calle Victoria 37, Buenos Aires, Argentina (1850-1853) and later to Chile. William left South America in 1860 selling his business to French photographer Felix LeBlanc.
