The similarities between a micro crystal growing in water and a subterranean landscape the size of a football field are wondrous things, this is what I try to manifest in my work. There is a certain coziness in naivety, soothing that you don‘t have to understand everything, just be the observer."
"My most recent work "Subjacent" is a study of the horizon and what we don‘t normally see. As a printmaker I usually work in copperplate gravure which has size limitations. I wanted to make these images 1/1, so I chose photogram as the medium. The desert is dug up (rocks, plants, sand, artifacts, ect..) and reconstructed in the studio. This cross section of the landscape is then contact printed onto negative material in 30 x 40" sections and then printed as a gelatin silver print and toned. Prints range in size from 11 x 14" to over 30 x 120"."
