J.H. Abbott (1830, 22 January - 1879, 29 June) was born - US, ME.  
  
Willi Baumeister (1889, 22 January - 1955, 31 August) was born - Germany, Stuttgart. Graphic designer, typographer, artist and professor. On occasion he included photographs within his collages. 
  
Peter Beard (1938, 22 January - ) was born - US, NY, New York. American photographer who works in Africa. His photographs are often combined with text and painting. 
  
Ashley Gilbertson (1978, 22 January - ) was born - Australia, Melbourne. Australian photojournalist. In 2004 he won the Robert Capa Gold Medal Award from the Overseas Press Club for his photographic reportage on 'The Battle For Fallujah'. In March 2009 he became a member of VII Photo Agency's VII Network. 
  
James Lafayette (1853, 22 January - 1923, 20 August) was born. The Lafayette Studio in London was from the late 19th and early 20th century one of the key photographic establishments for high society. Nicola Vinci (1975, 22 January - ) was born - Italy, Castellaneta. Italian contemporary photographer living and working in Verona. He completed his studies at the Fine Art Academy in Bari in 2001. Since then Vinci’s photographs have been included in exhibitions and art fairs, both in Italy and abroad. 
  
Simon Marsden (1948, 1 December - 2012, 22 January) died. A photographer of ruins and allegedly haunted houses sometimes using infra-red to add to their spooky charm.
