2 November 1839 Mechanic's Magazine (vol. 32, no. 847, pp. 77-78) reprints an article from The Atheneum on "Patenting of M. Daguerre's Process in England". Louis-Jacques-Mande Daguerre patented his discovery in England but it was free to use elsewhere.

F. Holland Day (1864, 23 July - 1933, 2 November) died - US, MA, Norwood.
