Guy Bourdin (1928, 2 December - 1991, 29 March) was born - France, Paris. French fashion photographer often working for ‘Vogue‘ 
  
Carl Strüwe (1898, 2 December - 1988, 7 January) was born - Germany, Bielefeld. German graphic artist and pioneer of microphotography. 
  
William Wegman (1943, 2 December - ) was born - US, MA, Holyoke. For the last 30 years William Wegman has been able to make an excellent living out of his large format Polaroid photographs of his Weimaraner dogs - starting with the remarkable ‘Man Ray‘. 
  
William de Wiveleslie Abney (1843, 24 July - 1920, 2 December) died - England, Folkstone. Writer of key 19th century photographic manuals. A member of the British Army's Royal Engineers, Abney founded a course of photographic instruction in 1871. Angie Acland (1849, 26 June - 1930, 2 December) died - UK, England, Oxford, Park Town. English photographer who during her time in Oxford was a family friend of John Ruskin. She took landscapes and portraits. 
  
Robert Howlett (1830 - 1858, 2 December) died. Best known for his portrait of Isambard Kingdom Brunel. He took a series of the engineering feats of Brunel including the construction of the steamship Leviathan (Great Eastern). 
  
Victor Keppler (1904, 30 September - 1987, 2 December) died. Notable advertising and commercial photographer - particularly in the 1930s-1950s. He did campaigns for U.S. Steel, General Electric, Nescafe, Lever Brothers and many others.
