Caption continues: The one in the foreground has U.S. belts on, probably taken from a Union soldier prisoner, his uniform is grey cloth trimmed with red. This view was taken the morning after the fight.
Summary: Stereograph shows a dead Confederate soldier in the foreground with the photographer's African American teamster posing as a dead body in the background at Fort Mahone, Petersburg, Virginia.
