Unidentified photographer / artist
1883 (patent)
Nickel plated and velvet stereoscope by C. A. Gartner and Pattberg, with a patent date of August 28th 1883.
Stereographica - Antique Photographica
Courtesy of Bryan and Page Ginns (#17 / 20)

The velvet is completely original as is the nickel plating. As expected there is some wear to the velvet but overall very good to excellent condition. The nickel part on top of the viewing hood is for a magnifying lens which is not present. A unique feature of this viewer is that the card holder will hold a small stack of views. Refer Wing, page 106 for an illustration and more information on the Gartner patent.
